God is there for young people at camp

Children’s camp in Eastern Europe and Pakistan – gift code SC2

Lena attends the after-school programme run by Blythswood Serbia in the city of Kragujevac. This year the 13-year-old went to summer camp for the first time. “It was nice there,” she says. “I found new friends and I enjoyed sports and singing.”

“Who am I?” was the camp’s theme and Lena engaged with the subject. “People are always interested in what those around think of them,” she says. “But we should first be interested in what God says about us.”

Camp gives young people the opportunity to think about the Christian faith on a deeper, personal level. Lena says she is better able to face difficulties in life because now she knows that God is there. She explains it like this: “When someone gets lost, becomes nervous and doesn’t know how to deal with it, then she has to know that God is there for her. She should pray to God, talk to him and make time for him, even if she has never done this before.”

Camp gives young people such as Lena the opportunity to engage with the Christian faith.
