Blythswood’s Foodbanks have experienced increased demand in 2022

Immediate help and further advice for elderly couple at foodbank

Jim and Isobel* were referred to Highland Foodbank by the Community Care Team when recent increases in the cost of food and fuel left them struggling to get by on their basic pensions.

“We gave them the immediate help with food which they needed,” says Lorna Dempster who manages Blythswood’s Highland Foodbank.  “We were also able to point them in the direction of Highland Council’s Welfare Support Team who would help them to claim further benefits which they might be entitled to.

“They were counting the days until they would receive the winter fuel payment and described the help they received from Highland Foodbank as a life-saver.”
