Pastor Alfred Chofong: ‘We are together in the harvest’

Christian books touch many lives in Cameroon

While he was a seminary student, Alfred Chofong contacted Blythswood, looking for Christian books to help him in his studies. Now a pastor in charge of missions and evangelism at a Baptist church in Bamenda, northwest Cameroon, he appreciates the help which he has received over the past seven years.

“My relationship with Blythswood has been fruitful and encouraging,” he says. “You have prayed for me and you have given me sound books which have helped me to make progress in my walk with God and in my ministry.”

As an example, he cites Gaining by Losing: Why the Future Belongs to Churches that Send by J D Greear. “This book has helped me as a pastor to view believers as instruments of God’s mission in the world,” he says. I work to encourage them to grow and participate actively in God’s mission as a way of life.”

Books he has received from Blythswood have also equipped him to teach others in seminars and conferences. As a form of English is widely spoken in his part of Cameroon, many of his Christian friends and colleagues have been able to benefit from the books which are shared around.

“The result of this is that many Christians are happy to discover their role in God’s mission and how exactly they can participate in it,” the pastor says. “It is exciting to share in their joy.

“I can’t thank God enough for the blessings of having such meaningful tools as we do ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit. I pray the Lord’s blessings to be with Blythswood Care. It is one of the instruments God is using to make me effective in fulfilling my own assigned part of the Great Commission.

“We are together in the harvest till the world knows him.”
