COVID-19: Update – 31 August 2020

Shoeboxes! Yes, despite all the challenges posed by covid-19, Blythswood Care’s 2020 Shoe Box Appeal is going ahead. That more than anything helps us to believe that we are returning to something like normality, as we work out how to operate safely and within government guidelines.

Eighteen of our shops in Scotland and seven of our shops in Ireland are now open and trading well. Our supporters continue to be generous in donating goods to our shops. Clothes, textiles, bric-a-brac all help to sustain our projects. Thank you very much indeed.

Our main depot at Deephaven, Evanton, is open and all of the sorting team have returned to work, along with the delivery/collections teams, who are currently doing contactless deliveries and collections. If you are within our area, this means we can come as far as your doorstep but not come in.

We are very grateful that our foodbanks in Scotland and our overseas projects continue to operate thanks to the generous support of people like you. You can keep up-to-date through our Blythswood Care and Blythswood Care Shops Facebook pages.

The events of this year have shown us that however much we work and plan, we do not know what tomorrow will bring. And so we entrust our work, ourselves and each other into the hands of God who is always good, always wise, always in control.

He has revealed himself to us by his Son, Jesus, who says in the gospel: “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NLT)
