Assisting those affected by disaster

Providing Disaster Relief

Hello Friends

When the town of Borodianka was occupied my family couldn’t leave our home. We were only able to survive by the grace of God.

The enemy’s checkpoint was right next to our house, which put us in danger, only increasing the threat to our family. We saw such terrible events; bombs falling from the airplanes were the scariest but the rocket launchers were worse, as they were very close to our house.

Whenever we heard them, we would just lie on the ground, too afraid to move. These might only have lasted for a few seconds, but it felt like a lifetime. They were so noisy. We had only moved from a region called Lugansk to our new house a few years ago, we were running away from the fighting which was already taking place.

Our house didn’t have a basement, so during bombing we had to hide under the bed or in a bathroom. When the enemy was there, we didn’t have much food, gas, electricity or hot water.

There are so many families like us who have felt imprisoned in their own home, and others who have been able to flee. We are so grateful to Blythswood who have been able to help in what has been such a difficult time for us.

Thank you for considering to help a family like ours,

The Chalyh family

Life changing events of war or disaster happen in an instant, but support is required for months and years through these events. A monthly gift will allow Blythswood to respond to crisis and to provide ongoing support to people affected by war and disaster.
