Supporting Education

Hello Friends

I live in Mumbai in India and have a story to tell you about my life so far.

I have attended the Beacon Centre which works with women and children who have been trafficked. My mum was trafficked and she doesn’t want that to happen to me.

My dad wanted to send me back to our home village in Nepal. My mum suspected it was a plan to force me into marriage and then sex work. With the help from the Beacon Centre I have now done a teaching course and passed with a First-Class Qualification.

I am now continuing to study whilst working as a Teaching Assistant at the Beacon Centre. I work with Asmita Vadavana, who runs the centre. We work well together but Asmita is encouraging me to look for work elsewhere, away from such a dangerous situation.

I am so thankful for the Beacon Centre as they have also helped my mum to open a small convenience stand which gives her an alternative source of income.
