A fire engine delivered by SERA to Kherson in November 2023
Fire engines and equipment save lives in Ukraine
Fire engines and equipment delivered by Scottish Emergency Rescue Association (SERA) in partnership with Blythswood Care have been used to save lives in Ukraine throughout 2024.
“Volunteers from Scotland delivered a further three fire engines, a bus and eight tonnes of equipment to Ukraine last November,” reports Anna Kravchenko who manages SERA’s Ukraine projects.
“They finally reached their destination at midnight after a 32-hour delay at the Polish border. But they didn’t leave the station until the lorry was unloaded and the Ukrainian firefighters had received their equipment. They had only a few hours to rest before hitting the road back home. It was a tough experience which proved their dedication.”
The life-saving equipment was assigned to regions in the front line – Kherson, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Kremenchuk. Anna says: “Our heartfelt gratitude extends to Blythswood Care, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and LUSH UK for their invaluable contribution and unwavering support.”
