Minka is poor even by the standards of the Roma community in which she lives, in southern Bulgaria. With three children to feed and no husband to support her, she depends on welfare payments which equate to about £94 per month.
A gift of chickens sponsored by Blythswood’s gift catalogue is providing some vital protein to this young family’s diet, making an especially valuable contribution at a time when Bulgaria like the rest of Europe is experiencing severe inflation.
“Minka lets them roam freely in the yard around her tiny single-roomed house,” says Pastor Peter Kolev who delivered the gift. “She feeds them a little, and when they are grown she will take one to make sure her children have some meat.”
“She is thankful to God for the people who donated funds that help her feed her family.”
