Leonardo knows you’ve given him something good
Leonardo loves sweets
Leonardo knows that his box includes sweets. And that is what puts a sparkle in his eyes according to his teacher, Lidia Micula.
“He was happy because of the sweets,” she says. “He doesn’t get them often.”
The seven-year-old’s mother moved herself and her son to a flat in the Romanian town of Marghita so that he could attend a school for children with special needs. He used to go the mainstream school in their home village but it was hard for him there.
The cost of renting a flat in Marghita stretches the family’s budget, leaving no money for extras such as sweets or new clothes. Lidia says: “Leonardo’s mum really appreciated the gifts of T-shirt, socks and underwear for her little boy.”
