Ionut was delighted to receive school supplies and other gifts he could call his own

Now I have my own pencils!

Some of us may remember wearing the hand-me-down clothes of older siblings but Ionut has never experienced anything else. The youngest of ten brothers in a low-income family in the Suceava district of Romania, he has had nothing he can call his own.

“He doesn’t have a school bag for kindergarten,” says shoebox distributor Boghian Gheorghita. “He would go without even a pencil and try to borrow one from a classmate.

“He was so happy to receive school supplies in his box. He exclaimed ‘Now I have my own pencils too!’”
